“I will never forget the time I was in the test centre with my client waiting to be called in for her driving test and we were talking about the test when this other girl joined us and started laughing.  She did not know I was a driving instructor at this point.  She did nothing but give out about why she needed to do a driving test as she has been driving for years and in her own words thought she was a very good driver.  I asked her had she taken any lessons and her reply was I do not need any lessons any fool can pass there test.    At this point, the tester came out and called them in.  Anyway I went down to the front of the test centre where I could see my client moving off which she did but guess who parked there car the wrong way and also had no L Plates up.  I could hear the tester saying she needed her L plates and of course, she started on the tester about how well she could drive and does not need L plates. 

I went out to the tester and said that I had a spare set of L plates would that be ok and he was very nice and said that would be fine and thanked me.  The girl looked at me took the plates and did not even say thanks.  She drove off still bending the poor tester’s ear by the look of it.  Back they came and I am glad to say my girl passed her test and we were talking about it when yes guess who came straight over to us with a look of fury and through the test sheet at me and said take a look at that since you are a driving instructor.  I was looking forward to seeing her sheet so I said nothing and boy oh boy what a sheet!  There were nothing but xxx all over the sheet including 3 grade 3 which was for dangerous driving.   

In reply to her I said I would be glad to help her pass her test and she laughed at me again and said the tester had not got a clue and that it was not her fault that she can drive very well.  At this point, my client said to her that she also had been driving for years, but if she had not taken lessons, she would have failed her test.  The girl looked at her, huffed, and before I could say anything, she was gone.  We were left standing there looking at her and we turned to each other and laughed.  So I wonder who ended up being the fool in this case!!!!!!

My advice to anyone taking their test is, please prepare in plenty of time and no matter how well you drive, it’s always best to take lessons.  If you prepare well there is no reason why you should not pass your test.  Best of luck to you all!”
